Colleen Muscha to Receive Distinguished Career Award

Colleen Muscha, Professor and Director of the MFA Costume Design Program, is being presented with a Distinguished Career Award for Outstanding Contribution to Florida’s College/University Programs at this year’s Florida Theatre Conference. The award will be given on October 27th, 2018 during the Closing Ceremony of the conference.

Colleen Muscha has been the Director of the MFA Costume Design program for over 25 years. She has designed costumes professionally at numerous regional theatres including the Dallas, Utah, and Alabama Shakespeare Festivals, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, Penn Centre Stage, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and Asolo Repertory Theatre. Her New York City design credits include work at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, Equity Library Theatre, and Broadway’s Longacre Theatre. She is member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, United States Institute of Theatre Technology, and the Costume Society of America.

In 1986, the Florida Theatre Conference began recognizing individuals in the state of Florida that had made a contributing effort in the area of Community Theatre, Professional Theatre, University/College Theatre, Theatre for Youth, and High School Theatre. Each year, the Board solicits names from the general membership for these awards. Over the years, these awards have been given to persons in the state of Florida that have made a difference in their area.
