2019 Florida Arts & Culture Day: Three Graduate Students Receive Student Advocacy Awards

Published March 29, 2019

The Department of Art Education would like to congratulate three graduate Arts Administration students on receiving student advocacy awards at the 2019 Florida Arts & Culture Day!  Katie Wawrzaszek, Brie Williams, and Kathleen Ewing were each recognized and awarded for their efforts on March 13, 2019. Arts Administration Doctoral Candidate Julia Adkins attended the event and reflected upon the experience by sharing:

The session we attended was the Informational Rally where several state representatives, as well as FCA representatives, spoke on the importance of arts and culture in the state of Florida.  The session was certainly interesting to be a part of! It was especially interesting to here the FCA speak on the strategies of talking with state legislators. The entire session was a good reminder of how important arts advocacy is at the state and local levels. It was of course amazing to see three of our Master’s arts administration students win an arts advocacy recognition award! Katie, Kathleen, and Brie are certainly deserving of it! The department commends and congratulates these students for their work!
