1st Annual Experimental Animation Festival

Keith Roberson and his animation students held the First Annual Experimental Animation Night at The Fermentation Lounge in Tallahassee, FL on Thursday April 16th. The festival showcased animated and experimental short films by FSU Students.

This event promised attendees a night of fun with bar and beer themed shorts that were guaranteed to entertain! The brewing-themed animations included works by MFA student; Adrian Errico, BFA students; Kelley Cunningham, Hunter Heerema, and BA students; Spencer Brownfield, Victoria Munsell, Felicia Smith, Jasmine Smith, and Maddison Stevens. The premiere of a collaborative “virtual products” infomercial parody by 3Danimation students, led by BFA student Christopher Watkins, had the audience in tears of laughter.

A kinetic, projecting zoetrope along with underwater stage-effect lighting, helped to transform the Fermentation Lounge for the one-night gala. With an audience of about 120 people, the night was great fun. Co-Owner, Jamie Hanuka commented that the event exceeded everyone’s expectations, and was a great success.

Because of the success of the inaugural event, the Fermentation Lounge is looking forward to the next Experimental Animation Night in November.
