On March 22, 2016, the College of Fine Arts held its annual College Awards Reception in the Richard G. Fallon Theatre. Over 250 students, faculty, donors, and supporters gathered to recognize and celebrate the achievements of students across the college. These outstanding achievements include awards, scholarships, fellowships, and grants. Dean Peter Weishar and Dr. Dave Gussak of the Department of Art Education gave welcoming introductions to the reception while Chairs of each department recognized the achievements of their respective students.
Carolyn Henne of the Department of Art highlighted the accomplishments of over forty undergraduate and graduate students whose awards included esteemed scholarships. Dr. Dave Gussak presented the achievements of eleven Art Education students whose exceptional work ranges from art therapy to dedicating their lives and studies to the furthering of art education research. Dr. Adam Jolles of the Department of Art History, highlighted the many awards and fellowships of over two dozen students whose outstanding work stretches across achievements in dissertation writing to art history teaching. Joséphine A. Garibaldi of the School of Dance recognized over forty students whose success spans across the diverse realms of dance and dance education. Dr. Lisa Waxman of the Department of Interior Architecture + Design acknowledged the awards of forty-five students whose work included impressive portfolios and innovative space and furniture design. Cameron Jackson of the School of Theatre showcased over fifty exceptional students who’s talent ranges from the technical aspects to stage performance.
