Alumni Frankie J. Alvarez is playing the fiery aspiring contemporary artist Agustín opposite stage-and-screen stars Jonathan Groff and Murray Bartlett in a new dramedy for HBO called Looking. Created by Michael Lannan and directed by Andrew Haigh, the show centers around three gay best friends living and loving in San Francisco.
Alvarez also had a recurring role on NBC’s Smash.
Before television, Alvarez worked extensively in regional theatre, including playing the title role in Asolo Repertory Theatre’s Hamlet: Prince of Cuba, featuring students from the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.
Alvarez received his BFA from Florida State University and his MFA from The Julliard School.
