Art Education Student Selected For National Gallery of Art Internship

The Florida State University Department of Art Education is proud to announce that Arts Administration PhD candidate Sitthiporn Thongnopnua was one of 19 international students selected to participate in the National Gallery of Art’s 2015 nine-week summer internship program.
The National Gallery of Art is a prestigious gallery located in Washington, DC. Among other acclaimed galleries and museums, The National Gallery of Art is widely known for its ability to preserve, collect, exhibit, and foster privately donated/purchased works of art. In addition, it offers museum-wide internships and fellowships to students pursuing independent research who possess a strong interest in museum work, curating, education, conservation, and administration.
Every year since 1964, the National Gallery of Art has offered rigorous, professional museum training to diverse candidates through a variety of internship programs. This year, we are pleased to have a fellow student selected to participate in its summer internship program.
Ms. Sitthiporn recently attained a graduate certificate in Program Evaluation. Previously, she received a BA in Visual Arts from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, and an MFA in Painting from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Ms. Sitthiporn also had the esteemed opportunity to work alongside artist Ithipol Thangchalok, 2008’s National Artist of Thailand, during a past internship.
Ms. Sitthiporn’s success is noteworthy. We encourage current undergraduate, and especially graduate students of all levels, to apply to next year’s summer internship program. Eligibility varies according to internship; however, applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The program is international. Summer interns receive a stipend of approximately $4,500 that is subject to all applicable taxes, and reside at the Gallery from June to August. The deadline for this year’s application packet was January 12, 2015. A full resume or CV, a writing sample, and official transcript must be mailed along with the application packet. A selection committee composed of Gallery staff and outside specialist reviews the application packets and selects the internship program’s semifinalist and finalists.
