The Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) welcomes Visiting Artist John Jasperse (NY) June 12 -26, 2011
Bessie Award winning artist, John Jasperse will begin developing a new evening-length work entitled Canyon during his upcoming MANCC residency. Local audiences may remember John Jasperse’s previous work from the 2010 Ringling International Arts Festival in Sarasota, FL where the John Jasperse Company performed Magic, Mystery and Other Mundane Events. During his residency Jasperse will collaborate with visual designer Tony Orrico a former member of the Trisha Brown dance company whose recent Penwald Drawings have been collected by the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. and presented by Dance Theater Workshop (NYC). Performers Lindsay Clark, Erin Cornell, Kennis Hawkins, Burr Johnson, James McGinn will be in residence with Jasperse. Additional collaborators (not in residence) include lighting designer James Clotfelter and composer Hahn Rowe. Jasperse will conclude his residency with an Informal Showing of his work in development.
