MFA Students Keisha Calderon & Rachel S. Hunter present their MFA Concert: Sightlines
March 22-24, 2012, 7:00 p.m.
The concert features seven new works developed by MFA candidates Keisha Calderon and Rachel S. Hunter. Additionally, FSU Alum Maria Bauman and current MFA student Lauren Slone will present work featuring both candidates.
The first act will take a step away from the conventional dance performance structure by separating the audience into groups that rotate through four site-specific works. Spaces in and around Montgomery Hall will be transformed into distinct environments in order to create a unique visual adventure for the audience. A reflecting pool, a movement installation, and an outdoor performance are just the beginning of this evening of dance.
The second act will unite the audience in the Nancy Smith Fichter Theatre. Calderon and Hunter further explore the possibilities for audience-performer connections in a proscenium space by experimenting with light, set and spatial design elements. SIGHTLINES offers a rare opportunity to have a more intimate, interactive experience with what is traditionally considered a presentational art form.
Please note the earlier than usual start time of 7 PM. Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for students with valid FSU ID. For ticket information, contact the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (850) 644-6500, or online at www.tickets.fsu.edu.
