Call for Submissions: Spring 2016 Art Student Awards

Spring 2016 Awards_ListservThe FSU Department of Art announces the 2016 Art Student Awards. These awards recognize the strength of our students and that means YOU!

You may self-nominate for any award category that you feel is an appropriate fit for your creative research. There are many different award categories available and each award comes with a monetary prize.

We strongly encourage you to apply for as many of these awards as you feel are a good fit for your work. A full list of awards with descriptions can be found on the Department website.

As long as you have good images of your artwork, the application should be very easy. We hope that you will consider applying for at least one award category.

The online applications are available now.  Please read the following information carefully:

Applications are due by January 29th at 11:59pm

To submit your work, go online to the Department of Art Student Awards and click on “Apply” next to the award you want.

Follow the instructions below to submit your work:

  1. Submit 5 representative images of your work.
  2. For each award you apply for, you may upload 5 images of your work. If you are applying for more than one award, you can choose to use the same images for each or submit different images based on the award description. Note: you must complete each award application separately and upload your images and information for each individually.
  3. For each image, provide a brief description, title, medium and size
  4. Max image size is 2MB, Accepted file types: pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, gif. For videos or animation, please do not attempt to upload the video and instead provide a link to the work online (i.e. Youtube or Vimeo).
  5. Supply a brief artist statement (limited to 300 words)

Choose carefully!

Choose only awards you are eligible for (BA/BFA/MFA), that are the appropriate medium (i.e. apply with photographs for the Photography award), and that you feel are a good fit for your work.

Applications that do not fit the criteria will be discarded.

Award Information:

Mary Ola Miller Reynolds Award

Given to one graduate (MFA) art student demonstrating significant achievement in studio art.

Jim Boone Endowed Art Scholarship

Given to two outstanding art students (BA, BFA or MFA) for work exemplifying exceptional achievement, with preference given to those whose work deals with social justice issues.

Andy McLaughlin Memorial Award

Given to outstanding art students (BA, BFA or MFA) for work exemplifying exceptional artistic achievement.

Ann Kirn Scholarship

Given to undergraduate art students (BA, BFA) who demonstrate strong design skills. Works submitted should represent your best work in design and/or digital media.

Mary Brown Ostlund Scholarship

Given to one undergraduate art student (BA, BFA) demonstrating significant achievement in studio art.

Berlyn Arnett BA Award

Given to three outstanding BA Art students for work exemplifying exceptional achievement.

MFA Award

Given to an outstanding graduate student in the MFA in Studio Art Program.

BFA Award

Given to an outstanding undergraduate student in the BFA in Studio Art Program.

Printmaking Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Printmaking.

Photography Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Photography.

Digital Media Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Digital Media.

Sculpture Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Sculpture.

Ceramics Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Ceramics.

Painting & Drawing Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA, BFA or MFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Painting and Drawing.

Foundations Award

Given to an outstanding student (BA/BFA) for work of exceptional artistic achievement in Foundations coursework (2D Foundations, 3D Foundations, Digital Imaging Foundations, Drawing Foundations).
