My work is both research and a personal reflection on the many apocryphal texts of early Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It is through the medium of painting that I have analyzed and visually distilled these heretical narratives into a duel-part body of work. Through this I intend to illuminate the mysteries of our ancient spiritual past, demonstrate these apocryphal scriptures significance and influence in later Jewish, Christian, and Islamic theology, illustrate the fallibility in the argument for divinely ordained scripture, and ponder the question of how our worldly civilization’s history and culture would appear had these books become canonical.
