On October 7th & 8th, 2016 the Department of Art History will proudly host our 34th Graduate Student Symposium in room 2005 WJB. This annual event brings together graduate students from programs around the country for presentation and discussion of their research. These young scholars will present 20-minute papers, each followed by critical discussion with students, faculty, and visiting scholars. The keynote address is delivered by a visiting scholar as part of the Thursby Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series. Recent keynote speakers have included Richard Shiff, W.J.T. Mitchell, Maria Gough, John T. Paoletti, and Claire Farago. This year’s keynote speaker is Barbara E. Mundy, Professor of Art History at Fordham University. Professor Mundy specializes in Pre-Columbian America, Sixteenth-century Mexico, Latin American art, and Cartography.
