The FSU Art History faculty and graduate students will host the 35th Annual Art History Graduate Student Symposium on October 6 and 7, 2017 in the William Johnston Building, room 2005. Graduate students from around the country will present papers on the history of art, architecture, and cultural heritage studies in three sessions on Friday afternoon, October 6, and Saturday, October 7th, with each paper followed by critical discussion.
The keynote speaker this year is Edward J. Sullivan, Helen Gould Sheppard Professor of the History of Art, New York University. Professor Sullivan will present “Samba as Metaphor: Performativity in Brazilian Art 1960s–1990s” on Friday evening at 5:30 pm in WJB 2005. The Keynote lecture is part of the Vincent and Agatha Thursby Lecture Series, which supports public talks by eminent art historians throughout the year.
