The FSU Department of Interior Architecture and Design in collaboration with the Architecture Media Politics Society proudly announces an international-scope conference coming to Tallahassee this January.

Day One Keynote Address

Thursday, January 16th, 7PM. (Public attendance is invited)

Architect Chris Downey  lost his sight in 2008, and has since combined his twenty years of architecture experience with his new perceptions to specialize in projects for the visually impaired. Recently featured on the CBS news show 60 Minutes, he teaches Universal Design at University of California, Berkeley, serves on the California Commission on Disability Access, is president of Architecture for the Blind, is the board president for the SF LightHouse for the Blind. He has been featured in numerous media stories including AIA’s 2015 documentary “An Architect’s Story“ and also a highly-acclaimed TED talk.

Angela Spangler is a Director at the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). Angela is a professional ergonomist and uses her expertise in human factors and human-environment relations to help IWBI further its mission of transforming buildings and communities in ways that help people thrive. In October of 2014 and after six years of research and development, IWBI launched the WELL Building Standard, the premier guideline for the design of buildings, interior spaces and communities seeking to implement, validate and measure features that support and advance human health.
