Florida State University will be hosting the College Book Art Association Meeting January 13-14, 2017. Nearly 100 book artists and book scholars are expected to attend a series of lectures, tours, and exhibitions.
Building on the mission of Small Craft Advisory Press, FSU, Tallahassee, Florida, the conference theme will focus on various types of collaborations in the book arts. The program consists of tours, exhibitions, panels, roundtables, and a keynote event to inspire collaboration among attendees. The keynote event is CoLab, facilitated by Bess de Farber of University of Florida. The workshop is a variation of her Collaborating with Strangers Workshops (CoLAB) of the CoLAB Planning Series. Having ready access to those who may have diverse skills but common goals within any environment is often an elusive dream. CoLAB Workshops expose the hidden assets of groups of individuals from a number of participants in a relatively short time frame.
The Members Show will be held at the Museum of Fine Arts FSU and will be juried by Katie McCormick, Associate Dean for Special Collections and Archives, FSU, and Eileen Wallace, Lecturer, Printmaking and Book Arts, Lamar Dodd School of Art. There will be additional book related exhibitions at Strozier Library and the WJB Gallery.
Location of the meeting TBD.
