The Venvi Art Gallery presents A Passion for Color, a survey of artist Ray Burggraf’s unique approaches to seeing the whole color spectrum. Join us Friday, September 2, 2016 for a reception of the artist from 6 to 9pm. There will also be a talk with the artist Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 1 to 3pm.
Artist Ray Burggraf came to Tallahassee in 1970 and taught painting, drawing, design, and color theory at Florida State until he retired to Emeritus status in 2007. His work was recently exhibited at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. He has maintained a studio in the Railroad Square Art Park for many years and is one of the founders of the popular non-profit 621 Gallery.
Entitled A Passion for Color, it is a survey of the paintings and constructions of Ray Burggraf and proposes some radically different approaches to seeing the whole color spectrum using acrylic paint, wood, Plexiglas and light. Some works even have motion and changing illumination!
