Published August 30, 2018

A musical adaptation of Tootsie is making its way onto the stage this fall with Music Theatre alums Leslie Donna Flesner (‘08) and Harris Milgrim (‘10) in the ensemble.

Based upon the 1982 film of the same name, Tootsie – A Musical Comedy  “tells the story of a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work until an audacious, desperate stunt lands him the role of a lifetime.” The new musical stars Santino Fontana as Michael Dorsey and features an original score by Tony Award® winner David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), a book by Robert Horn (13, Dame Edna, Back with a Vengeance), choreography by Tony Award® nominee Denis Jones (Holiday Inn, Honeymoon in Vegas), and musical direction by Andrea Grody (The Band’s Visit). Tootsie will be directed by seven-time Tony Award® nominee and Olivier Award winner Scott Ellis (She Loves Me, On the Twentieth Century)

Leslie Donna Flesner’s previous Broadway credits include Hello, Dolly (u/s Irene Molloy), An American in Paris, Honeymoon in Vegas, Cinderella, Chaplin, Follies, and Finian’s Rainbow. She has also appeared on TV in Boardwalk Empire, The Knick, and the 67th Annual Tony Awards®. Harris Milgrim made his Broadway debut in Cats (u/s Munkustrap, u/s Rum Tum Tugger) and performed in West Side Story’s first national tour (Snowboy, u/s Tony).

Tootsie – A Comedy Musical will have its world premiere at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre September 11 – October 14 and will be transferring to Broadway in the spring 2019.
