New Play Development with Alum Sean Daniels, Artistic Director of Merrimack Repertory Theatre

The School of Theatre has announced this season’s shows set to premiere during the annual New Horizons: Original Works Festival. This annual event connects the directors, actors, and audience in a unique experience of creation and discovery.

Among the shows premiering during this annual event, Merrimack Repertory Theatre will be collaborating with FSU School of Theatre students to present High School Theatre on April 21st at 8:00pm. School of Theatre alum Sean Daniels (BA 1995) is the current Artistic Director for Merrimack Theatre. Daniels has been named “One of the top fifteen up & coming artists in the U.S., whose work will be transforming America’s stages for decades to come” and “One Of 7 People Reshaping And Revitalizing The American Musical” by American Theatre Magazine.

About Sean Daniels

Sean Daniels (BA 1995)

Before being appointed Artistic Director of Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Sean served as Artist-At-Large at the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY where he received national attention for the Cohort Club, a program designed to better engage audience members with the work on stage. He spent four years at the Tony Award-winning Actors Theatre of Louisville as the theater’s Associate Artistic Director (where he directed 17 productions including 5 Humana Festivals). He was also Associate Artistic Director/Resident Director of the California Shakespeare Theater and before that spent a decade as the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Dad’s Garage Theater Company in Atlanta.
