Hillsborough County is inviting interested sculptors to provide responses to this call for qualifications for outdoor sculpture for various Hillsborough County parks. Details are included herein.

PROJECT TITLE: Hillsborough County Parks Placemaking
PROJECT GOAL: To identify and link Hillsborough County parks as destinations. To celebrate the people, history, and natural beauty of Hillsborough County and the Florida Gulf Coast.

[learn_more caption=”1.0 PROJECT INFORMATION:”] 1.1 Hillsborough County (County) is interested in receiving submissions from sculptors demonstrating their ability to provide completely realized artworks appropriate for outdoor installation at various public parks. Eight parks have been identified for this project. Locations are a trailheads, suburban passive parks, and regional sports complexes. It is anticipated that multiple artists will be commissioned for the project and that selected artists may be awarded more than one commission. In the case of a multiple award, each single commissioned work shall contribute to the identification of the local park as a place of significance in the community. In a second iteration (second casting), the individual works may be sited together to make a collective statement that reinforces the placemaking role of the individual works. Sculptors should demonstrate their ability to work with allegory, history, and/or contemporary themes in the development of their works.

[/learn_more][learn_more caption=”2.0 SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS:”] 2.1 Artists who wish to be considered for these projects must submit the following materials electronically. Ensure that all files sent electronically have been scanned by up-to-date virus scanning software. Files with detected viruses will be destroyed and will not be considered. All images and documents must be accessible in the MS Windows environment. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. The following documents are required: 1. A current professional resume of no more than 2 pages for each submitting sculptor. 2. No more than six (6) image files of recent work. Image files must be properly labeled each with artist’s last name and a number (1-6) assigned per image list. (e.g.:smith_1.jpg, smith_2.jpg). Names should NOT appear directly on any image. 3. Image ID sheet, explaining the content and context of each image.
2.2 Additional Information and Instructions 2.2.1 Proposals will be reviewed by the Site Advisory Committee and the County’s Public Art Committee.
2.2.2 The intent of the review is to short list a group of up to eight sculptors to provide more specific proposals relating to possible themes, character, and materiality of proposed installation(s). The County may contract with up to six sculptors to fulfill the requirements of the listed projects.
2.2.3 Hillsborough County does not guarantee that any commissions will result from this call. 4.2 If it is deemed necessary, an addendum to this Call for Artists may be issued through DemandStar. Artists are responsible for registering with DemandStar to receive these Addendum and future Calls for Artists issued by Hillsborough County. By registering, vendors that have downloaded a solicitation will automatically receive notification of related addenda. 5.2 Hillsborough County issues its solicitations electronically through its contracted vendor, Onvia DemandStar. All addenda to such solicitations will be issued exclusively through Onvia DemandStar. If you have obtained this solicitation from a source other than Onvia DemandStar, you will not be listed on the plan holders list and may not receive notification of any addenda issued. Failure to receive any issued addenda shall not relieve the proposer from any obligation(s) contained in the addenda. 6.1 Persons responding to this Call do so at their sole expense and risk. The County reserves the right to change or cancel this Call at any time.
6.2 No proposer is guaranteed the award of an Agreement or any work as a result of being selected for this project.
6.3 Any changes made to this Call shall be made by means of a written addendum. It shall be the responsibility of the Artist to assure that all addenda have been received prior to submitting a proposal.
