I think of my work as segments of an unfinished narrative. In this body of work I created a series of characters that come from another fictitious and fragmented world, but they have been removed from that place and put into this world. Both through this experience of being uprooted and through the individual narratives of each character, I am working with ideas of loss and alienation on multiple levels. Even in the best of circumstances, these characters imbue a state of abjection. I borrow from the world of cartoons because I believe that cartoons have universal appeal and offer an innocent framework through which I can talk about more serious matters.
