The Department of ArtKeith Roberson’s experimental animation “Fractal Trail Ride” is a featured artwork at the “Artist and Location” Exhibition at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) in Seoul, South Korea. This experimental animation combines algorithmic fractals and video of our local Apalachicola Forest trails. The work was created as part of an exploration of the connections between technology and consciousness. Fractal patterns and our visual perception system share many similar textural traits. This video represents an “internal perspective” of being a conscious animal in a natural environment. The soundtrack is a live performance composed from custom instruments made from electronic toys.
