Allesee and her son with School of Dance Chair Josephine Garibaldi, MANCC Director Carla Peterson, College of Fine Arts Dean Peter Weishar and the dancers from the piece Clarion, choreographed by School of Dance faculty Rick McCullough.

Amid the decorated floats and Marching Chiefs of this year’s Homecoming Parade was returning cheerleader and School of Dance alum Maggie Allesee, the first woman to letter in a FSU varsity sport. A true supporter, Allesee watches every FSU football game and is an annual participant in the Homecoming Parade in addition to her annual visits to the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreographythe choreographic center that she endowed over a decade ago. The Center, one of only two choreographic centers of its kind in the country, has elevated the value of creative process in dance nationally, and solidified FSU’s School of Dance as a premiere academic program and source of dance research.
