For his extraordinary ten-minute play, Nancies, MFA Stage and Screen Writing student Adam Groff was selected as a national Finalist for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). His play, along with four others from colleges and universities around the country, was chosen from the works of 16 semi-finalists, two winning plays from each the eight KCACTF regional competitions.
Groff’s play was read at the 2011 Kennedy Center American College Theatre National Festival and chosen first place. Adam will received active membership in the Dramatists Guild, a cash prize, and publication of his work. “What the Kennedy Center Festival really means to me is a great chance to get my name out there in the professional theatre world before I even graduate”, explains Groff.
Adam is an extraordinarily unique and talented writer who is also extremely hardworking and passionate about writing, said Sheri Wilner, Visiting Assistant Professor of Playwriting at Florida State. So I’m enormously pleased that he’s receiving such recognition and reward. He deserves to have many plays presented at the Kennedy Center!
