Devin French

This glass painting of a cardinal and magnolia blossom was created using powdered glass on a base of clear glass. This technique requires multiple kiln firings as each layer is carefully applied by hand. The contrast between the soft impressionistic background and the fully developed realism of the cardinal and magnolia make this a striking piece.

Glass powders, known as Frit are applied individually using a series of sifters. This piece, designed by Director of Master Craftsman Studio, Kenneth F. von Roenn Jr. and fabricated by Devin French measures approximately 32′ x 35′ and was created custom for a local residence.
