Research Night at the Facilities for Arts Research

Published November 8, 2017

In October the Facility for Arts Research hosted their first Research Night and also hosted visiting artist Lee Running.

The next Research Night: Cornucopia on November 20th from 7-9pm will feature a materials exchange and a festive potluck. The harvest celebration takes a new twist at FAR! Join us for a potluck of food, conversation, and art supplies. Bring your surplus studio supplies OR a dish to share (or both!).

Gesso or jello, paper or pastries, wingnuts or walnuts, the items you bring earn you tickets to choose from the cornucopia of art goodies supplied by FAR and your fellow makers. Picking order will be drawn at random, but in this game, no one goes away hungry OR empty-handed! Be sure to bring your own plate, silverware, and cup –food and/or art supplies to share –a bag or box to carry your new materials!

Lee Emma Running also returned to FAR  last month to create a second Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP) Edition. Her first edition with Denise Bookwalter, Lining: skin to cloth, was released in 2015 and is now in collections across the nation and abroad. The edition has sold out and SCAP invited her back for a second edition. The weeklong visit included paper dyeing, printing, binding tests and creating images from fabric. Work on the new book has begun but will take about two years to complete.
