FSU School of Theatre holds stage makeup workshop for Youth Leadership Tallahassee

Published April 10, 2012

Twelve Leon County 11th grade students visited the School of Theatre at Florida State University on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 for a stage makeup workshop. The students, part of Youth Leadership Tallahassee, will learn how to create injuries and bruises. We fully expect this to be a hit (pun intended) for these young people.

Every year 36 students representing area high schools and coming from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds participate in this very prestigious program. Just like adult leadership programs that are held in cities throughout the country, these students spend a year getting to know their communities through monthly leadership activities.

On April 10 the 36 students were divided into three groups participating in three different arts disciplines: The one taking the stage makeup workshop; another taking a class at the School of Dance; and the third going to the College of Music. The three groups met up at the end of the day and present their “findings” to each other.

The stage makeup workshop was conducted in one of the dressing rooms in the Fine Arts Building. Brittany Jacob, MFA Costume Design graduate student, conducted the session.
