The Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts opened its doors for a hosted its second annual Roaming Art and Wine Tour on February 8.

Patrons explored three exhibits during MoFA’s Second Annual Roaming Art and Wine Tour.

Nearly 100 patrons attended the event, which offered the unique opportunity to meet and interact with curators and artists behind the museum’s three current exhibitions: “50 Years of Collecting,” “Talamh agus Teanga: Land and Language in Contemporary Irish Art,” and “All Hands on Deck: 15 Years of Collaboration at Small Craft Advisory Press.”

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and were glad so many could join us for this celebration of the arts,” said James Frazier, Dean of the College of Fine Arts. “The generous gifts of our patrons help us expand the museum’s permanent collection, bring exciting and insightful exhibits to Tallahassee, and conduct educational programming for families and students year-round.”

The evening featured a rich selection of wines from Presenting Sponsor Poco Vino at tasting stations around the Museum and Fine Arts Building lobby. Owner and sommelier Amanda Morrison joined fellow College of Fine Arts Dean’s Council Development Committee members Crickett Mannheimer, Jonathan Klepper and Lynn McWilliams in planning the event for this second year.

“In addition to curator insights, we were delighted to add a showcase of student print and ceramics work and highlight students whose interns at the Museum are providing crucial hands-on learning to complement their studies in a variety of disciplines,” said Michael Carrasco, Interim Director of the museum.

The second Annual Roaming Art and Wine tour raised more than $10,000 for the museum, all of which will be matched by a grant from the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs.

MoFA is home to a permanent collection of more than 7,000 objects and presents exhibitions of historical and contemporary art works that contribute meaningfully to the scholarship and conversations that sustain the civic and intellectual life at FSU and in the Tallahassee community. As the capital city’s only art museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, MoFA fosters collaboration, creativity, and critical engagement.

Those unable to participate in this year’s Roaming Art and Wine Tour can still have their gifts to the museum doubled. All donations made through June 30, 2024, will be matched by the cultural affairs grant.
