Casey Sammarco

Casey is a professional stage manager and collaborator who has experience in theatre, dance, opera, and events. As a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Casey has managed a variety of productions in New York City and across the country. Her expertise is rooted in resident production stage management positions, world premiere plays and musicals, and outdoor repertory. Casey previously worked at Barnard College of Columbia University, where she assisted on-campus performing arts groups with the realization of their productions and served as a mentor for student-led performing arts organizations. Favorite theatrical projects includes: 4 seasons at Merrimack Repertory Theatre, 3 seasons at the University of Delaware’s Resident Ensemble Players, 8 seasons at Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, 9 seasons at Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and projects with organizations including: Theatre for a New Audience, Looking Glass Theatre Company, Gulfshore Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Broadway Sacramento, The Acting Company, The Barrow Group, Florida Repertory Theatre, The Lexington Theatre Company, and the production of Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett.

Casey is the current Director of Education for the Stage Manager’s Association, the former Chair of the Stage Management Committee at Southeastern Theatre Conference, and a recurring mentor for USITT’s Stage Management Mentor Project. She has presented multiple workshop sessions at national conferences on topics including delegation, negotiation strategies, communication, public speaking, digitized prompt books, and sustainability. 

Casey is the Stage Management Advisor for the Roger Rees Awards Stage Management Fellowship, which provides professional development opportunities for high school stage managers in the New York area. She is also the co-founder of Theatrical Edge Academy (TEA), a high-school training curriculum for high school attendees of Southeastern Theatre Conference. Casey has served as a judge and adjudicator for Florida Division of Arts and Culture, Florida Thespians, USITT SMMP, and USITT Management Poster Sessions. 

In 2024, Casey received the FSU Outstanding Teaching in the Major Award. In 2026, she was the recipient of The Developing Specialized Faculty Award given by FSU’s Council on Research and Creativity. 

Casey is the author of Communication for Effective Stage Management: A Collaborative Production Tool, published by Routledge in 2025.
