Graduating FSU Studio Art Students Showcase Work in Series of Exhibitions

Art

During the final weeks of the Spring 2025 semester, the graduating students of Florida State University’s Department of Art exhibited their work in three exhibitions marking the completion of their degree programs at FSU. Each exhibition demonstrates the hard work, dedication, skill and research the students have poured into their work, as well as the wide variety of skills they have developed through their coursework.

Origins & Afterlives

This final exhibition of work by FSU’s graduating studio art MFA students, hosted at FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts, explored themes of memory, bodies, environments and identity, examining how stories originate how they are collected, fragmented and reimagined in their afterlives.

“The wide variety of work featured in this show speaks to the strength of our MFA program at FSU,” said Jeff Beekman, Chair of the Department of Art. “We encourage our students to experiment with new materials and methods, to dive deep into research and explore themes that interest them. Each of these students have grown so much in their artistry during their time at FSU and they should all be very proud.”

“Origins & Afterlives” showcased the work of Lua Barbosa, Katie Grinell, Jillian Heusohn, Kalee Iturrioz, Hannah Keats, Tevin Lewis, Liz Masterson, Audrey McKenzie, Chole Sailor, Kim Springs, and Alina Valenzuela.

Everything I’ve Ever Known

“Everything I’ve Ever Known,” the 2025 BFA studio art thesis exhibition, represented the culmination of a semester’s work by the thirteen students graduating from the program.

“The work produced by this exceptionally talented class of undergraduate students sets the stage for their artistic careers,” said Denise Bookwalter, director of the studio art BFA program. “I can’t wait to see what each of them accomplishes in the future.”

The exhibition featured the work of Clay Barczak, Emmie Bryson, Lily Crocamo, Rachel Holsonback, Sophia Jusino, Angela McCall, Nicolina Morr, Rachel Ostrander, Anna Parsons, Kaylee Sibelle, Gabrielle Shakir, Anna Speer, and Alexandra Vergopia.

STOPGAP

This exhibition hosted by the League of Graduate Artists was a celebration of work by students graduating from the BA studio art program. An opening reception for the “STOPGAP” was held on May 2 at the Carnaghi Arts Building.
