Ruth Allen

Dance Technology Coordinator

School of Dance

Ruth Allen is a dance artist, choreographer, educator, digital creator, somatic practitioner, and a mother. Originally from Louisiana, she holds an MFA in Dance from Florida State University, and a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Southern Mississippi. Ruth has performed works by Shapiro and Smith, Trebien Pollard, Barry Stoneking, Mathew Janczewski, Taja Will, Shannon Stewart, Marije Nie, BODYART, Anjali Austin, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar. Ruth’s passion for healing and studying the human body has led her to earning certifications in multiple modalities of Massage Therapy and Bodywork, the Gyrokinesis® and Gyrotonic® Methods, STOTT Pilates®, and Progressing Ballet Technique® (PBT). Her engagement with somatic practices has formed the foundation of her artistic voice, and she utilizes this lens of awareness as a launchpad into the evolving relationship between body and mind.
