Florida State University Department of Art associate professor Meredith Laura Lynn is featured in the Orlando Museum of Art’s 12th annual Florida Prize in Contemporary Art exhibition.
Each year, ten leading artists or collectives from throughout the State of Florida are selected to take part in the Florida Prize and invited to exhibit work at the museum. The initiative is designed to recognize uplift the state’s working artists. Lynn and her collaboator Katie Hargrave are among this year’s selected artists.

“The Florida Prize is an exciting exhibition and opportunity because it highlights the diversity of artists and work being made in our state,” said Lynn. “The work in this show covers so many topics and issues that are vital to Floridians, including our students at FSU. To be included with such an accomplished and important group of artists is an honor.”
The pieces featured at OMA are part of Lynn and Hargrave’s ongoing series “Bad Outdoorsmen”. The duo’s 5-channel video installation was filmed on locations across North Florida where John Audubon, William Bartram, and John Muir traveled and attempted to survive in the outdoors. Three new textile pieces are also featured, which re-envision the 36 drawings of birds Audubon did from his expedition to Florida in 1832.
The exhibition is on view now through August 23, 2026. Learn more about the prize and the exhibition at omart.org.
