Michael Fornaro, Dean’s Advisory Council
Michael Fornaro, PhD is a published author, designer and educator with over 20 years of experience in the fields of architecture, interior design and urban planning. Fornaro is often known as an advocate for age-sensitive housing and elder-friendly communities, the subject of which is explored in his book “Relocation in Later Years: Aging in Place in Americas Urban Neighborhoods.”
Fornaro has been serving the FSU Department of Interior Architecture & Design on its Advisory Council since 2018 and will be serving as Chair in 2022/2023. In his service, he has sponsored two studio classes, acted as a class speaker, arranged for speakers and presenters, and spearheaded a virtual Portfolio/Resume Review. He recently joined with fellow council members to underwrite lunch for students from local Nims Middle School during their Design Day on campus.
Fornaro runs two companies – Luxe Design Associates and M4 Architecture. An Ohio native, Fornaro now lives in Tallahassee and Naples, with extensive work based in his previous home of Atlanta.
Fornaro received his BFA in Interior Design from Bowling Green State, MArch from Miami University (Ohio), and PhD in Urban Planning from Cleveland State University.
