Amy R. O’Keefe

Specialized Faculty Member

Department of Interior Architecture & Design

Amy has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from Florida State University. After working in retail management, and within the Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising industries, she moved back to Tallahassee in 2001. She completed her Master’s of Science degree in Interior Design at Florida State University in 2003.  During the last year of classes, she worked as an intern at The Sechrest Design Company, a firm that has been designing residential and commercial interiors since 1997 in Tallahassee. She then secured a full-time position as a Design Assistant upon graduation. As she grew in her career with The Sechrest Design Company so did her responsibilities which included oversight of the sample library, project management, drawing skills with AutoCAD, working with clients in residential and commercial applications for space planning and specification of furniture, fixtures and equipment. She passed the NCIDQ in 2006 and became a Florida Registered Interior Designer. She has maintained her license with the State of Florida since that time. She also continued her association with ASID and from 2007 until 2013, she supported the Tallahassee Design Community as the Design Community Coordinator. Today she continues to be a professional member of ASID. In 2016, she began teaching as an Adjunct. She completed her work in private practice in August 2018. She is now a Specialized Faculty Member and Undergraduate Advisor in the Major. She attained her Certified Aging in Place Specialist in 2019. She continues to maintain her license with the state of Florida along with other designations.
