Danielle Henn
Adjunct Professor
Department of Art Education
Danielle Henn is an art educator, researcher, and academic administrator whose work centers on visual arts education ecologies, community-based art practice, and student engagement across K–12 and higher education contexts. She earned her PhD in Art Education from Florida State University, where her doctoral research focused on mapping the factors that impact the health of visual arts ecologies within local communities, with particular attention to how relationships, access, and systems shape sustainable arts learning environments.
Danielle has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in art education, curriculum development, and program design at institutions including Florida State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her teaching emphasizes holistic, relational approaches to art education that recognize students as creators embedded within complex social and cultural networks. She integrates theory with practice, encouraging emerging educators to think critically about equity, access, and the role of art in shaping community wellbeing.
In addition to her academic teaching, Danielle serves as the Student Engagement Specialist for Ignite Christian Academy, a K12 online school where she designs and coordinates schoolwide programming that fosters connection, creativity, and belonging among a diverse, geographically distributed student body. Her work includes developing extracurricular initiatives, supporting student leadership, and building systems that bridge academic learning with authentic creative experience.
Danielle’s professional interests include visual arts ecology mapping, Reggio-inspired learning environments, museum and community partnerships, and the design of responsive, place-based arts programming. She is actively involved in the National Art Education Association and regularly contributes to professional development, presentations, and collaborative projects that explore how art education can thrive within evolving educational and community landscapes.
She lives and works in Florida with her family and remains deeply engaged in both local arts initiatives and broader efforts to strengthen the field of art education through research, teaching, and creative practice.
