Combined Pathways Program: Interior Design
The Combined Pathways Program provides academically talented students with a streamlined route into graduate studies. By participating in this program, students have the opportunity to explore graduate-level coursework and assess their interest in pursuing an advanced degree.

- Master of Science in Interior Design (Advanced Professional)
- Project Track
- Thesis Track
- Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design

Application Process
When to Apply:
Students should apply during the final semester of their junior year.
How to Apply:
- Complete the application form.
- Submit the completed form via email to:

- Request two Statements of Support from the Interior Design faculty members (the forms are available in the application package).
Important Notes
Admission to the Combined Pathways Program does not guarantee admission to a graduate program. Students must apply separately for the graduate degree of their choice and meet all Graduate Program admission requirements.
Combined Pathways courses are subject to university credit-hour tuition rates. Please contact the department representatives if you have any questions.

- IND 5638: Design Issues (Fall only)
- IND 5636: Design Theory & Criticism (Spring only)
- IND 5324: Graphic Design Foundations I* (Fall or Spring)
- IND 5337: Graphic Design Foundations II (Fall or Spring)
*IND 5324 Graphic Design Foundations I could be counted toward the Graphic Design Graduate Certificate if the student applies to the certificate while in the graduate program.
Interior Design Licensure and Certification Information
The Interior Design program at Florida State University prepares students for professional practice in interior design and may support eligibility for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Examination, depending on individual experience requirements and applicable state regulations. The NCIDQ Examination is a nationally recognized exam used by many states as part of the licensure or registration process for interior designers. Licensure requirements for interior design vary by state. Some states require licensure or registration to practice certain types of interior design, while others do not regulate the profession.
The State of Florida requires applicants seeking registration as an interior designer to meet education, experience, and examination requirements, including successful completion of the NCIDQ Examination. Students intending to pursue licensure or registration should review the specific requirements of the state in which they plan to practice.
