Dance: Returning Professionals

The MFA Returning Professional Track is designed for accomplished dancers. With faculty guidance, you’ll design a personalized curriculum that enhances your existing strengths and supports your artistic exploration. Returning professionals have significant flexibility in shaping their program, allowing you to delve deeper into your areas of interest.

Admission is Selective:

Acceptance into this prestigious track is determined by a distinguished faculty who consider the following: 

  • Proven Experience: A substantial professional dance career at the national or international level. 
  • Artistic Acumen: Demonstrated experience in choreography and/or restaging dance repertory. 
  • Dedication & Commitment: A clear passion and maturity within the field of dance. 
  • Staying Current: Continued engagement and active participation in the dance world. 
     

An MFA in Dance expands your horizons and opens doors to exciting new possibilities: 

  • Diverse Career Paths: Pursue careers in teaching (university or community settings), performance (directing a company, curating performances, festival director), or choreography (strengthening creative skills and increasing choreographic opportunities). 
  • Evolving Expertise: Develop a holistic understanding of the field, including its ever-changing aesthetics and evolving pedagogies.

MANCC
The School of Dance is the home of the internationally recognized dance research center the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC). FSU dance students have the opportunity to observe and interact with professional artists while in residence at MANCC.
