Welcome to the 2020/21 Dean’s Society

Published September 11, 2020

As faculty and staff welcomed students back to campus, the College of Fine Arts also welcomed its Dean’s Society to the new 2020/2021 academic year and provided an impact report on their giving in the previous year.

The Dean’s Society recognizes donors that make annual, cumulative contributions of $250 or more to any fund in the College of Fine Arts. The society cultivates a community that recognizes and promotes excellence in the visual and performing arts at Florida State University.

In a letter to donors, Dean James Frazier recognized their special role in these unprecedented times:

No one has been untouched by the challenges presented. But I am very proud of how our family of faculty and staff, and especially our students, have adapted to change and come together to find solutions. It is in the framework of the arts to find creativity in the least expected places.

Your financial investment in this College – as well as your investment of time and expertise – has played an integral part in powering our faculty, staff, and students through these past few months.

– James Frazier, Dean

The impact of 2019/2020 giving can be seen in the CFA Year-in-Review, available for viewing now, and in the funding of student achievement, research, and professional development:

  • 25 undergraduate students received academic scholarships in 2019/2020, in addition to those provided by endowed funds invested with the FSU Foundation
  • 27 students received merit-based awards to recognize excellence in particular coursework; and
  • 82 students received travel support to attend conferences and conduct research.
