Art News, Department of Art Education’s newsletter, is published annually in the Spring semester. The most recent issue, Issue 9 (Spring 2018), has recently been completed and published!

The new issue begins with “Moving Aside for New Leadership.” In this section, Second-Year Art Therapy student Amanda Schattie interviewed Chair of Art Education Department and Professor of Art Therapy Dr. David Gussak, who will be stepping down as Department Chair, on his experience in such position and changes witnessed during his service. The issue then presents “Exciting Events for the Department 2017-2018,” which includes the 2017 Paint-Around Gala and Auction, the Spring 2017 Community Mural Project, and the 2018 Art and Education for Social Justice Symposium, among multiple more.

The new publication also includes “FSU Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards Highlights Art Education Doctoral Student.” In this section, doctoral student Yi-Wen Wei is highlighted and celebrated, the Taiwanese Art Education professor being featured on March 13th as a part of the Women’s History Month series. After Art Administration Alumna Tama O’ Brien and Art Therapy Alumni Mia Ulmer are featured in the “Alumni Spotlight” section of the new issue, a recap of the highly successful 2018 Art and Education for Social Justice Symposium is presented.

The issue then highlights “Arts Administration and Museum Education and Visitor-Centered Exhibitions (MEX) Faculty Accomplishments.” These include Arts Administration Assistant Professor Dr. Antonio C. Cuyler’s receiving the Diversity & Inclusion Award as well as Professor and Director of Arts Administration Dr. Pat Villeneuve, and Assistant Professor of MEX/Ringling Museum Liaison Dr. Ann Rowson Love editing the book Visitor-Centered Exhibitions and Edu-Curation in Art Museums. Once the 2018 NAEA National Convention is described, the new issue of Art News concludes with the “Faculty Promotion and Tenure” section.
