Responsibilities

The Florida State University School of Theatre invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Acting.

Responsibilities include teaching three courses each semester covering Intermediate Acting and Advanced Scene Study, primarily in the BFA Acting program. We are interested in practitioners who are committed to teaching undergraduates and who will maintain an active professional practice outside of Florida State. The position requires serving on School and University Committees, assisting in the recruitment and mentoring of students, and working in cooperation with faculty and staff in fulfilling the professional training and educational mission of the School of Theatre. A successful candidate would bring directing experience to the position and would, on a rotating basis, direct in the School’s Season. Other requirements include: commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion; ability to work effectively with community members with respect to gender, expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and national or ethnic origin; as well as commitment to safe working practices in the entertainment industry.

Qualifications

An MFA or equivalent terminal degree is required as is successful college level teaching and professional acting experience.
