Responsibilities

This position is responsible for coordinating installation and maintenance of all equipment in the Department of Art at the College of Fine Arts. The successful candidate will perform routine and highly skilled specialized maintenance activities on equipment in Sculpture and 3D areas.

The Studio Equipment Manager:

  • Oversees all OPS area lab technicians and ensures adherence to best practices in installation, maintenance, operation, and safety.
  • Coordinates and performs maintenance activities, scheduling, safety procedures, and repairs on departmental equipment.
  • Performs all regular and specialized maintenance on Sculpture and 3D Area equipment.
  • Oversees, instructs, and assists technicians in Ceramics Lab, FAB Lab, Photo Lab, Print Lab, and ATL in addition to MFA Studio and BFA Studio spaces in Carnaghi Arts Building.
  • Manages Equipment Checkout and all respective personnel on behalf of the department to serve faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintains internal inventory to include adding new items, item checkout, and check in. Verifies functionality and integrity of contents upon check in and evaluates rates of utilization.
  • Serves as Department of Art Inventory Taker and assists in completion of annual Property Inventory. Trains and educates faculty and staff to include all lab technicians in the correct and safe operation of equipment. Supervises and assists with equipment use until user is independently proficient.
  • Works with the College Facilities Officer and campus Facilities in matters related to routine and non-routine maintenance, service, and repair of utilities, HVAC, electrical, flooring, security, roofs, and doors. Inspects and produces regular reports on the condition of Art spaces, furnishings, utilities, and physical operations.
  • Coordinates delivery and installation of new equipment amongst the department, Central Receiving, FedEx, UPS, and campus Facilities as needed. Initiates requests and services to remove equipment or other surplus property.

Qualifications

HS Graduate or equivalent and four years’ experience or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to four years.

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Driver’s License in the State of Florida.

Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Experience performing accurately in a detail oriented environment.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree or work experience in a related field.

Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Experience interpreting technical and artistic designs and create a final product.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
