The 2018 Annual Art Faculty Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts

2017 Art Faculty Exhibition

January 12 – February 4, 2018

Opening Reception: January 12th, 6:00pm -8:00pm

January is the time for Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) audiences to catch up with the projects and recent works of the talented Department of Art faculty of the College of Fine Arts. The art faculty like to surprise MoFA audiences so we can only anticipate what is bound to expand the known universe in inventive and unpredictable ways.

Last season, Kevin Curry presented a most ambitious English conjunction: “and.” While we’re used to ferreting out degrees of separation, Curry’s work was a much more immediate and ever-changing connection with MoFA guests arranging their own constellations of friends, family, or amenable strangers for photo ops.

“Gardening experiments” and Museums of Art might not seem to be natural partners, but Chalet Comellas’s 2017 series of nasturtiums assert the truth that there is a lot of room for horticulture in art. All last January, tiny nasturtium seedlings were quietly seeking their most photogenic light sources among the blue, yellow, and red thoughtfully provided by the artist.

Colorful past history should be the best indication of the vivacious personalities of faculty and their artworks: 2018 will be off to a great start with the opening of the Art Faculty Exhibition on January 12. Please do join the fun from 6-8pm.

M-F 9-4; Sat and Sun 1-4. CLOSED in observation of the birthdate of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday January 18. Admission is FREE and open to the public! Click here for information about the MoFA’s opening hours, location, and parking. www.mofa.fsu.edu
